Frequently Asked Questions
| Why do we need a consultation? |
The purpose of the initial consultation is for you to be able to meet your petsitter, as well as for your petsitter to be able to meet your pets, go over their daily routine, and pick up your key. During this time we will go over all the necessary paperwork, pricing, and details of your petsit. Each visit is custom tailored to your pets, their needs, and their routine
| Why do you need my key? |
In order to ensure that we have access to your home and pets while you are away, we need to have a copy of your key. If you prefer to leave us a garage door opener, or an access code, we do still prefer to have a key as a backup method of entry. Unfortunately technology does not always work as it is supposed to, and if we have a key, we are able to enter your home in the event that there is a power outage, or other reasons that a garage door opener or entry code may fail. We store your keys in a locked key safe when they are not in use, so rest assured that your key is safe with us.
| How long are petsitting visits and Dog Walks? |
Petsitting visits are 30 to 60 minutes long, unless other arrangements have been arranged with your petsitter (extended visits, or overnight visits). Dog Walks are 30 or 60 minutes, and Dog Park Visits and Hikes are 60 minutes.
| What does a petsitting visit consist of? |
Petsitting visits consist of feeding, watering, walking and playtime with your pet. We also check doors and windows, water plants, flush toilets, bring in mail and newspapers. For longer petsits, we will also clean up dog waste, and take out trash.
| My Pet is on medications. Can you give them to him/her? |
Absolutely! Oral medications can be administered by any of our petsitters. Kimberly has 8 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician and can administer Subcutaneous Fluids, medications, and injections, and will personally administer any of these types of medications.
| Will I have the same sitter on every petsit? |
We try and keep the same petsitter assigned to you every time you need our services. In the event that your sitter becomes ill, or cannot make your petsit, then Kimberly or Brian will personally take over the petsit.
| May I tip my sitter? |
Yes. Please feel free to tip your petsitter!
| Will you board my pet in your home? |
At this time, we are not able to board your pets in our home. We do not have the proper licenses for in home boarding.
| What areas do you service? |
We service all of Albuquerque, including Paradise Hills and Taylor Ranch. We also service areas of Rio Rancho (closest to Intel). Please call or email us if you are not sure if we service your area. If we do not service your area, we will be happy to refer to you to a Petsitter that does!
| Is there a long term contract? |
No. We do have a Client Contract, but you are free to use other services. Our contract is for permission to enter your home and care for your pets.
| What kind of pets do you provide services for? |
We provide services for all kinds of Domestic Animals. Dogs, Cats, Birds and exotics. At this time we do not provide service for Horses or Farm Animals.
| Why petsitting? Isn’t a kennel just as good? |
When we come to care for your pets in their own home, we find that they are less liable to experience stress over your absence. We stick close to their daily routine, so that even though you are away, not much changes for them. We also spend lots of time giving your pet personal attention and playtime, as well as walks in their own neighborhood. Also, your pet is not subjected to being around lots of new animals (less risk for picking up parasites or communicable diseases), and has one on one care. We also take care of your house, and take added security measures to make sure your home is safe and cared for while you are away.
Can I book a petsit at the last minute?
We prefer that you book your visits in advance so that we can ensure availability. Spaces for Pet Sits and Walks are limited and we are asking that clients book in advance. If we are unable to provide services for any reason, we are happy to provide you with a referral to another sitter.
WIll you provide SSN's and DL numbers for a background check?
Unfortunately, just like you would not give out sensitive identifying information to a stranger, neither will we. We are more than happy to provide business registration numbers, tax identification numbers, and numerous references. We understand your concerns, however, due to the rise in identity theft and other crimes involving personal, identifying information, we are not comfortable releasing SSN's and DL numbers. We are more than happy to show you identification at our consultation. If a Background check is absolutely neessary, we can procure them from the county, however the requesting client is responsible for the fees for background checks, as well as compensation for time and travel, and all fees must be paid in advance.
| Is there a special fee for Holidays? |
New Years Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will have a $5.00 holiday fee. The fee is not per visit, just 5 bucks flat.
| Do you charge extra for certain parts of your service area? |
Mileage charges will apply for service areas over 10 miles from our location on the Westside of Albuquerque. |
